The Upwears project was officially launched in November 2024. Its kick-off meeting took place in
Nantes, at INRAE BIA’s offices, with presentation from partners.
The Upwears project, focusing bioinspired e-textile for application in sport industry.,
was officially launched on November 7th, 2024, in Nantes.
During the meeting, partners met in INRAE’s
headquarters for a two-day kick-off. 31 participants from the consortium partners attended the event on-site, while 18 joined online due to disruptions caused by an airstrike at Nantes Airport. This first meeting came as an opportunity for all partners to meet face to face and spend time together, marking the beginning of the project.
Each project’s Work Package leader made a
30- minute presentation to introduce their roles, objectives, and action plan for the following years of the project. Presentations covered a large range of topics, touching on every aspect of the value chain from biomass feedstock sourcing to the final product, including essential tasks like the life cycle analysis or the communication strategy.
These aspects are crucial for the overall success of the project and
the future collaboration of the partners.
We had the pleasure of receiving Mr Cristian Iacob, Project Officer from HADEA, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency, by videoconference, who presented his agency, the current EU policies as well as the main project management guidelines.
Participants also enjoyed enriching site visits, including the Textile and Fashion Museum in Cholet, the Centrale Nantes engineering school, and the INRAE Pays de la Loire Centre, offering valuable perspectives on the project’s context and potential.
The next meeting for the Upwears project will be the first General Assembly of the project and will take place in February 2025 at Linificio’s premises in Italy. Discover a quick aftermovie from our memorable two-day kick-off meeting in November: Link
