UBS

The Université Bretagne Sud (UBS) is a multidisciplinary university located in Brittany, France, with campuses in Lorient, Vannes, and Pontivy. It focuses on innovation through research and education, particularly in fields like digital sciences, materials engineering, and environmental studies. UBS collaborates closely with industries and regional partners to drive applied research and technology transfer. With approximately 10,000 students, the university combines academic programs and research initiatives to address contemporary challenges and support regional development.

Role in the project
UBS will be the leader of the Work package 6 on Performance reliability and durability development. In this context, they will bring their specific knowledge in plant fibre mechanical characterisation, at multi scale, through tensile, AFM and composite characterisation, as well as background in biobased composites recycling and processing. UBS has specific lab equipment and protocols developed for plant fibres characterisation, such as AFM in Peakforce Mode, microdroplet debonding tests and micro tensile tests for single fibre testing. The BIBS characterisation platform (Multimodal and multiscale characterisation of bioresources and bioproducts offers Imaging, biochemistry & structure techniques such mass spectrometry, microscopy, NMR and chemical phenotyping) will be used for the characterisation of composition and structure of the biobased products for e-textile from the molecular to the product scale.
